Alexander Technique
Everyone can learn. Extremely practical, the Alexander Technique is a skill which can be learnt and applied in all our daily activities.
It is a technique which enables us to use our bodies in a more balanced way. Over the years we unconsciously acquire habits of use - we’re all familiar with shoulders raised to ears, clenched fists and clenched jaws and teeth. But frequently we are unaware of the many less obvious tensions. These inappropriate muscular tensions contribute to a mis-use of our bodies and can aggravate and even cause many problems. Back pain, tiredness, headaches, breathing problems and a host of other unnecessary ailments, aches and pains all become part of our lives.
Learning to use the Alexander Technique provides us with the skill to recognise these tensions and to be aware of how we can help ourselves in all situations. It is not a quick fix. It is a way of learning and a way of life.

- Rosemary became interested in Alexander Technique after fracturing her spine in two places, as a result of falling off a horse.Having tried many different therapies to combat the pain and discomfort she finally discovered the Alexander Technique – and was hooked! She became aware through the Alexander Technique that how she was ‘using’ herself when she was lifting shopping/children, sitting in front of a computer/television, and every other daily activity contributed hugely to her pain and well-being.After a relatively short number of lessons and much pain relief, Rosemary decided to train to become a teacher. She graduated from a three-year full time course at the Oxford Alexander Training School ten years ago.
