The Pilates Method (sometimes simply Pilates) is a physical fitness system that was developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. It is a corrective system of exercising that revolutionises the entire field of physical education. Joseph invented equipment that is only used in specially designed Pilates Studio’s. It is the ultimate way to learn Pilates and to train the mind and body together just as Joseph Pilates intended. The continuous moving platforms and dynamic nature of the equipment allows the equipment to act like an extension of your body allowing flowing, controlled movements and freedom in your joints. As the equipment is designed to work your whole body as an integrated unit, developing good alignment, core stability as well as complete body awareness.

Bio :
I began to study Pilates in December 2003 and went onto gain my NVQ level 2, from this I wanted to expand my knowledge of Pilates and studied further to gain my NVQ level 3 Clinical Pilates & my equipment qualification.

Pilates has become very infectious for me and I find I have incorporated into my everyday life. My love of the Pilates is passed onto my clients not only through my understanding and know how but also through my passion for this unique, life changing subject.

I have been in the fitness industry for over eleven years (time flies when you’re having fun!), I started by teaching aerobics and then began to branch out to other disciplines within the fitness industry before discovering Pilates.

Pilates brings so many things to so many different people, as we learn something new everyday my training and development continues which in addition to my personal benefit is also passed onto my clients. This is underpinned by regular training courses and seminars.

I am also very passionate about passing my knowledge onto new instructors and clients alike, it is great to see people improve and grow.

Bio :
Rachel is  currently level 3 Clinically trained in Pilates specializing in both Mat-based and Equipment Pilates. She has also trained and qualified in a vast variety of fitness styles over the past 10 years, however, Pilates is her passion.

She has been teaching Pilates for 8+ years now and CANNOT get enough of it! Pilates teaches you control and self awareness, she says  she loves the way it makes you feel, and how you really have to concentrate on training at a very slow pace; therefore making every movement safe and very effective.

She runs regularly and enjoys swimming, ice skating and mountain biking.

During her ten years as an instructor she has gained valuable experience in both one-2-one and group training.
